When will my baby start teething?

Teething usually begins at around the 6 to 9 month time frame. Once all the teeth come in your baby will have twenty new teeth. These teeth are referred to as the primary teeth and they are not permanent. Once your baby begins teething the primary teeth will continue to come in until the child is about two or three years of age.

The order your baby's teeth during their primary teething cycle typically goes something like this:

As your baby is in their 6 to 7th month of teething the two center bottom and center top teeth will come in, these are known as the incisors. As your baby begins their 7 to 9th month of teething they will receive two more incisors at the top and bottom of their mouth. This will bring their total teeth to 4.

Once your baby begins their 10 to 14th month of teething they will receive their first molars in the back of their mouth. These are used for chewing. During the 15th to 18th month of teething your baby will sprout their canines, these are their pointed teeth which are also referred to as their fangs. Finally at around your baby's 2 to 3 year mark, the last of your baby's primary teething teeth will come in. These teeth are called the second molars and they are also located toward the back of the mouth area.

Your baby will begin teething at around the 6 to 9th month and this will continue until they are about three years of age.
